Doral takes its name from Doris and Alfred Kaskel, who bought land here in the late 1950s and opened the Doral hotel and country club in 1962. The golf resort was long home to a PGA Tour event, and the city incorporated in 2003.
Today it is a hub for logistics, warehouses and offices. Carnival Corporation has its headquarters here, and U.S. Southern Command is based in Doral.

Character and history
Residential growth began in the early 1980s with Doral Estates and then Doral Park, the first of many communities named after the hotel. Residents pushed for local government for years, and voters approved incorporation in January 2003.

Business parks, warehouses and offices sit close to residential communities, so many workplaces are a short drive from home. CityPlace Doral and Downtown Doral are newer mixed-use centers with homes, shops and restaurants.
Getting around
Doral is bordered by the Palmetto Expressway to the east, the Dolphin Expressway to the south and Florida’s Turnpike to the west, with the airport just beyond the Palmetto. The free City of Doral Trolley runs within the city.
